The author has selected fifty plants from around the world and provided a 2-4 page profile of each, supplemented by a short list of facts (native habitat, height), images, and sidebars. In addition to being a fascinating read, it is also a warning for us to keep in mind the ways we can influence the outbreak of diseases. The essays deserve three stars as useful but a tad boring, and the photographs four stars. You don't have to go in order however, and if there is a specific lesson you want to learn (eg, blanching), you can turn to the back and view a "Techniques" glossary which has a list of all the techniques presented in the book so you can go directly to what interests you. Color art reproduced in black & white is a case of misrepresentation.
Julia Bell. This is a hard topic to think about but, more knowledge is some comfort.. As the cover suggests, it is a single but useful principle.. This is a great book. I have all of the Modesty Blaise books and (comic) books. If I think
