I was provided a free copy of this book for review from Island Press and Net Gallery. The very first recipe is how to boil water, only it's not called that, it's a recipe for oatmeal. And all these companies now become the Global 100 companies. So limiting. This book could be appropriate for younger readers but they would have to be extremely resilient to the impact of horrific imagery and increasingly graphic violence. For example, there are a few case studies, but only on certain topics. There are photos of the mummy containers, which seem art objects in themselves. I read this book from start to finish without putting it down! Paul Teed is an amazing author and gave so much information. Beneath that portrait of perfection lie all the raging hormones associated with pregnancy and the body's adjustment to nursing and caring for a baby, not to mention the emotional component, which is off the charts.
