With U.S. intelligence agencies wracked by internal power struggles and paralyzed by bureaucracy, the president was forced to establish his own clandestine group--Covert-One. It is activated only as a last resort, when the threat is on a global scale and time is running out.
THE JANUS REPRISAL
It begins with a terrorist attack. Covert-One operative Colonel Jon Smith is attending a conference in The Hague on infectious diseases, together with leading scientists and political figures from around the world. Without warning, the conference hotel is consumed in a bloodbath. Smith is caught in the crossfire and barely escapes but not before discovering a picture of himself and two other targets in the pocket of one of the shooters.
But the hotel is not the only location under attack in The Hague. Bombs are going off at the train station, the airport, and the International Criminal Court, where Pakistani warlord Oman Dattar is being held while he's tried for crimes against humanit

Editorial : From Booklist
From the opening sentence that literally starts with a bang, the latest Covert One novel speeds along at a breakneck pace. Agent Jon Smith wakes up in his hotel room and has to dive to the floor to avoid a bullet. Mayhem ensues as terrorists attack the hotel. Smith climbs onto a window ledge and barely survives the massacre. Later he finds three photos—one of himself, another of a friend, and the third of a woman he’s never seen—in the pocket of one of the terrorists. Realizing they must be targets, he notifies his friend and goes on a quest to rescue the mysterious woman. Is there a connection to a madman with access to a virulent strain of bird flu who boldly plans to infect New York City? Freveletti, who has an amazing talent for action scenes, has written one of the top entries in the Covert One series, which has established itself as the best of the numerous series based on Ludlum characters. --Jeff Ayers

I will keep ordering one every year. Hell. Spiritual healings and experiences. One error could be understood, but this is getting ridiculous.. It's really good at conveying Jessica's personality (which is what it was designed for); but coming as it does so late in the story, it is hardly needed for that purpose -- by that time, we already HAVE a good handle on her personality -- so that the reader can hardly be blamed for wondering why it is there. You can read it easily in one night or a weekend. D. Despite the cover photo of a happy and geared-out IPod hip-hopper, this book begins where the others don't: with the question of library location; the iTunes hierarchy and unique, even counter-intuitive, method of organization; the moves the audio collector should make before going wild with the innumerable features of either the program or an iPod Touch 4g. If you cut them out as instructed you have destroyed the designs on the other side. I'll go on to her next one nowbyehappy reading..
